New language arts standards are coming …

The proposed English Standards of Learning went before the Board of Education for first review on October 27. A series of public hearings are being held around the commonwealth. Locally, there is a public hearing TONIGHT, December 14, 7 p.m. at Albemarle High School. Registration of speakers will begin at 6:30. Speakers will have three minutes to speak and should bring copies of their comments for the Board of Education.

Public comment also may be submitted via email to englishsol_2016@doe.virginia.edu. The standards are expected to be approved by the Board at their meeting on January 26.
