Employee Vaccinations Begin Tomorrow by Invitation Only

ACPS COVID-19 Vaccine Program

In collaboration with the Blue Ridge Health District (BRHD) and the Regional Emergency Operations Center, both Albemarle County and Charlottesville City school divisions will be operating a vaccination clinic for school division employees beginning tomorrow, January 28. This clinic will supplement the health district’s current vaccination program.

Employees will be scheduled to receive COVID-19 vaccines this Thursday, Friday and Saturday, January 28-30, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Performing Arts Center at Charlottesville High School.

The first group of employees scheduled for this clinic are those that meet the following criteria:

  • Regular staff members whose responsibilities require them to work in-person at a school building or on a bus during Stage 3 of our Return to School plan; AND
  • Have indicated that they want to receive the vaccine; AND
  • Either were not able to schedule an appointment through the BRHD or have an appointment that is scheduled after February 7.

Employees scheduled to receive a vaccination over the next three days will receive an email as early as today from vaccine@k12albemarle.org with their scheduled appointment information. Vaccines will be available only to those employees who receive this email notification.

As we finalize the number of vaccines available to us as well as the number of employees meeting these initial criteria, we may be able to include additional school-based employees in this first round.

Employees who already have an appointment with the BRHD to receive the vaccine should NOT cancel their appointment until AFTER they have been vaccinated at the school division clinic.

As more vaccines become available to Virginia, we hope that both the number of residents able to schedule appointments through the government’s Vaccine Administration Management System (VAMS) and the number of employees able to be vaccinated at a school-based clinic will expand.

Nearly 75 percent of our employees have responded to the division’s vaccine survey that they have pre-existing appointments. If you have not yet completed the COVID-19 Immunization Intention Form, we ask you to do so as soon as possible. All employees are strongly encouraged to protect themselves against COVID-19 by obtaining the two doses of the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine being administered in our area.
