Attention 8th & 9th Grade Teachers: The Virginia General Assembly is accepting applications for Pages/Messengers during the 2015 session. Applicants must be 13 or 14 years of age at the time of election or appointment (first day of session). Students serving as Pages/Messengers play an essential role during our legislative session! Please share the information available on the Page Program website with your students who might be interested in such an opportunity. The online application process closes on November 1, 2014.

Foothills Child Advocacy Center invites you to join the Stewards of Children Public Training on Thursday, October 2, 2014, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the 5th Street County Office Building, Room C. This free training empowers adults to protect children and provides tools to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. The nationally recognized Stewards of Children program is designed for every adult who is concerned about the safety and well-being of children.

As you may know, the Science Museum of Western Virginia and Virginia Tech have organized the first-ever state-wide Virginia Science Festival beginning Oct. 4, 2014, and concluding Oct. 11, 2014.
