Tax Scrabble TilesAs we start a new year and you begin to gather your information for the IRS income tax filing season, Payroll would like to share some important information with you regarding your Form W-4 (IRS Employee’s Withholding Allowance Certificate) for 2018. Your Form W-4 tells Payroll the correct amount of tax to withhold from your paycheck. Situations when you might need to change your Form W-4 include marriage, divorce, having a child, or if you discover through filing your federal income tax return that you had too little or too much withheld from your pay. Reminder: Deadline to Submit the Transfer Request Form Is Feb. 28

Time Is Running OutTeacher Transfer Requests are now open to all tenured teachers desiring consideration for new assignments for the 2018-2019 school year. Teachers who are on a Performance Improvement Plan or who will be on an active improvement plan for the upcoming school year are not eligible to apply for a transfer. All other teachers are welcome to apply for jobs online as vacancies become available.

The deadline to submit the Transfer Request Form is February 28, 2018; however, a tenured teacher may apply for a transfer through June 15, 2018. Keep reading »

Important Information About 1095-C Tax Forms

1095-C FormWhat is a 1095-C?

It’s a tax form that we are required to issue to certain employees due to Affordable Care Act (ACA) requirements. Think of the 1095-C as a kind of W-2, but for benefits. It details medical insurance coverage for yourself and any dependents who may have been covered under our medical plan, as well as documenting the offer of coverage to certain other employees. Attention “Google Drive for Mac/PC” Users

Backup Google DriveIf you use the Google Drive desktop sync client for Mac and PC—a feature officially known as “Google Drive for Mac/PC”—to backup files from your computer, this message is for you. GSuite for Education has announced that “Google Drive for Mac/PC” will shut down completely on May 12, 2018.

Please note: Google Drive the service is not going away. If you log in to your Google account and utilize Drive’s storage through a web browser, this change will not impact your files. Teachers and students who backup files to cloud servers with the Google Drive app, however, will need to make a switch. Continue reading

Now HiringThe Department of Learning Engineering, Access, and Design (LEAD) is accepting applications for Learning Technology Integrators for the 2018-19 school year. Learning Technology Integrators, or LTIs, collaborate with instructional staff and administrators within assigned schools to innovate and integrate contemporary learning tools and pedagogies and to model and coach digitally-infused instructional strategies.

School Board Meeting Update

Superintendent Moran’s funding request for the 2018-19 school year was approved by the School Board during its February 8 business meeting. The Board did not make any cuts; with small adjustments, the request totals $188.5 million with revenues projected at $187.1 million. The funding gap of $1.45 is among the lowest in recent years.
