At their upcoming meeting on October 8, the Albemarle County School Board will decide whether the school division will progress to the next stage of reopening (from Stage 2 to Stage 3). The school division will remain in its current stage (Stage 2) through at least the end of the first quarter. The Board’s decision will impact the second quarter of the school year, which begins on November 9. Continue reading
Monday, November 2, is now a trade-off day for parent conferences. November 2 will still be an instructional day for students; however, all instruction will be asynchronous. Our school buildings will be closed to all students on November 2; there will be no in-person access. We will share this information with families later this week. Continue reading
As we progress through our Stages of Returning and employees’ needs change, the division understands that staff may need to request leave or other accommodations because they are unable to fulfill the duties and work expectations of their positions. Human Resources has provided information about accommodation requests, leave requests, separation of employment, important dates, and deadlines in the Accommodation and Leave Requests document. The Department of Technology maintenance window occurs every weekend, starting at 5 p.m. on Saturday and continuing through 5 a.m. on Sunday. During this time, access to ACPS technology systems may be intermittent.
This weekend, beginning at 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, we will take our primary data storage system offline to perform scheduled maintenance. Continue reading

ACPS employees,
Many of you have heard that the Internal Revenue Service, under the oversight of the U.S. Department of Treasury, has offered an option for employees to defer the withholding of Social Security tax on the wages paid to them by an employer who chooses to participate in the new option. The County has elected not to implement the voluntary Social Security tax deferral for employees that was scheduled to go into effect on 9/1/2020. Continue reading
