Effective August 9, Masks Required for All Employees When Indoors
Beginning Monday, August 9, all ACPS employees, regardless of vaccination status, will be required to wear a face mask when inside a school or school division office. Previously, masks were not required in schools or offices if a person was fully vaccinated and students were not present. This new requirement is based on updated guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which recently recommended that masks be worn by anyone inside a school, regardless of vaccination status, in communities where there is substantial or high transmission of the COVID-19 virus. Announcing “Reframing the Narrative” Cohorts for Elementary Teachers

We are pleased to announce that we are forming cohorts for Reframing the Narrative for elementary educators. Over the last two years, secondary teachers have been participating in this project with the purpose of co-constructing anti-racist and culturally responsive social studies curricula. This year, we are inviting all K-5 educators to apply to be a part of this exciting project, which will include a pathway toward a micro-credential or certification in Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT). Science Safety Training for K-8 Teachers

Attention K-8 Teachers: The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) is offering Science Safety Training on August 4, August 6, August 24, and September 1. This virtual training addresses general science safety for K-8 teachers and lasts for one hour, including 50 minutes for content and 10 minutes for Q&A. Each session begins at 9 a.m. Annually, elementary teachers and science teachers are expected to participate in safety training. Continue reading
