Message from the CFO: Update on the Availability of 1095-C Forms
The following message is from Nelsie Birch, Chief Financial Officer for Albemarle County:
On March 3rd, the Office of the CFO received notification that personal information was incorrect on a small percentage of 1095-C forms. We immediately took steps to deactivate employee access to the forms through Greenshades and initiated a full investigation, which includes an audit. Continue reading
School Board Approves Funding Request
At its business meeting on March 10, the Albemarle County School Board unanimously approved its 2022-23 funding request, which includes a 6% salary increase for employees effective July 1. This would be in addition to the 4% increase that took effect on February 26.
School board chair Graham Paige and vice-chair Katrina Callsen will present the funding request to the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors on Monday, March 14, at 3 p.m. Continue reading

Now’s the Time for Teachers to Apply for Shannon Classroom Grants
For more than 30 years, the Shannon Foundation has awarded grants to teachers for innovative classroom programs and projects. The Foundation offers two levels of financial support: Level 1 grants of up to $750, which are awarded to individual teachers or a team of teachers with a unique learning idea, and Level 2 grants of up to $5,000, which are awarded to school teams led by a coordinating teacher or building administrator.
It couldn’t be easier to apply for a grant. Teachers can visit the Foundation’s 2022-2023 Grant Application and submit an idea within a matter of minutes. All submissions must be received by April 15, 2022. Continue reading
Recent Pay Raise & A Reminder to Check Your Deductions
We are excited to remind you that the Albemarle County School Board approved a 4% pay increase for all employees in December 2021 that took effect on Saturday, February 26. Human Resources has been hard at work updating data in the system and testing to ensure that the data will flow properly into pay under the new system. The 4% increase will be reflected in your paycheck on March 18, 2022. Continue reading

Starting Monday, March 7, middle and high school students will be greeted with a welcoming pop-up message, just like our staff. This page will appear when the student opens their ACPS-provided device for the first time each Monday.

Message from the CFO: Access to Greenshades for 1095-C Is Temporarily Suspended

At 8:39 a.m. today, we suspended access to the 2021 1095-C forms due to a technical issue with Greenshades, the vendor who generated the forms.
The Department of Finance & Budget is working on a resolution with Greenshades and ACIT. I will send notification once the issue is resolved. Continue reading
Form 1095-C Now Available in Greenshades
Form 1095-C (Employer-Provided Health Insurance Offer and Coverage) is now available in the Greenshades Employee Portal for those who elected electronic delivery. For those who declined electronic delivery, the form will be mailed to the home address listed in Greenshades.
Once you’ve logged in to Greenshades successfully, you can locate your W-2 form under the main menu: Pay History > Tax Forms > View: 1095-C for 2021. You can save or print the form for your records. Continue reading
Policy Updates Since Jan. 13, 2022
Albemarle County Public Schools has a number of policies that govern our operations in alignment with state code and our division vision, mission and values. Our policies must be reviewed once every five years, though we often review them more frequently due to changes in Virginia Code or the needs of our school system. So far in 2022, we have updated, revised or deleted 18 policies. As part of the review process, we use our Equity Checklist to ensure that our policies are having a positive impact on equity in the school division. Continue reading
