Mental Health First Aid Training Opportunity Coming up on Oct. 25

If you have an interest in supporting students who are experiencing mental health challenges, consider signing up for Albemarle County Public Schools’ Mental Health First Aid training, open to all staff. There are currently 10 seats still available in our next course coming up on Tuesday, October 25. You can register online through the Professional Learning Management System (PLMS). Math and reading scores for our Black and Hispanic students, those from economically disadvantaged homes, English Learners, and students with disabilities were significantly below passing. ACPS Is Transitioning to a New Intranet on Oct. 6

In support of the creation of the new ACPS Human Resources (HR) Department, and also to enhance security, the Department of Technology is modernizing the platform used to house internal staff resources. Resources from the current HR site hosted by Albemarle County Local Government and resources from the current ACPS intranet are moving to a new shared home beginning this Thursday, October 6. School Board Strongly Objects to Proposed State Policy That Would Reduce Protections for Transgender & Gender-Expansive Students

The Albemarle County School Board said today that it “respectfully but vigorously” disagrees with a newly proposed state policy that would reduce protections for transgender and gender-expansive students. Several elements of the proposed policy are in conflict with the school board’s August 2021 Policy on the Treatment of Transgender and Gender-Expansive Students, which was adopted in accordance with guidance provided in 2021 by the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE). Change Your Password by Oct. 14

The Department of Technology announced at the beginning of the school year that we will require passwords to be changed on or before October 14, 2022. This password change is required of all staff and students in grades 3-12. Staff and students who have not changed their password since June 8, 2022, will be prompted to change their password on October 14.  

We encourage you to change your password prior to October 14 to avoid the required prompt. Please use the Self Password Reset portal to manage your ACPS password. Continue reading
