Albemarle County’s last four coat drives have resulted in more than 2,200 coats, jackets, and assorted winter clothing items going to community members in need. This year’s drive opened in November and will continue accepting donations through the end of February. As of last week, we were only 57 coats short of 2,500 donations in five years!
So far, the 5th annual coat drive has provided 243 coats to charitable organizations that help our community members, including the Earlysville Exchange, Albemarle County Public Schools, Bright Stars, the International Rescue Committee (IRC), and more.
You, too, can share the warmth by dropping off your unneeded coats, jackets and sweatshirts at either County Office Building (COB) location: Collection bins are located on the first and second floors of COB-McIntire, and COB-5th Street has a collection bin between the front entrance and Meeting Room A. New coats are accepted as well!
