The 5th Annual Lynchburg Regional Women Education Leaders in Virginia (WELV) Forum is scheduled for Saturday, October 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Alice Ashley Jack Room of Smith Hall at Randolph College and will provide a networking and professional development opportunity for educators in our region.
Keynote speaker Dr. Charol Shakeshaft is the Department Chairperson and Professor of Educational Leadership at Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. Shakeshaft will address the topic of gender equity, and this will be followed by separate breakout sessions for elementary and high school educators. These sessions will feature skill building activities focusing on classroom environments, relationships, and meeting the needs of all students led by Susan Hunter, AP and core subject high school teacher, from Greensboro, NC, and Tate Culbreth, 5th grade teacher at Bedford Hills Elementary, from Lynchburg, VA.
Registration for the half-day event is $25 for non-members (includes a one-year membership in WELV), $15 for WELV members, and $15 for college students, with a limit of 60 attendees.
Presented through the collaborative efforts of Lynchburg College, Randolph College, and Sweet Briar College, the forum will begin with a breakfast buffet and include a keynote speaker, two breakout session options, and a final Question & Answer Session.
