School Grants for Healthy Kids – Apply by April 1

Action for Healthy KidsAction for Healthy Kids is offering two grant opportunities to help schools implement health and wellness practices: Up to 550 schools will receive School Breakfast Grants ranging from $500 to $5,000 to support increased breakfast participation, and 500 schools will be awarded Game On Grants ranging from $500 to $2,500 for physical activity and nutrition initiatives that promote student health. We recommend that employees retiring under the Virginia Retirement System (VRS) at the end of this school year submit their VRS application materials to Human Resources (HR) by April 1 in order to avoid delayed retirement benefits. StoryFest Is Next Week, March 16-20

VA FOB 2016The Virginia Festival of the Book’s annual schedule of kid-friendly programs, collectively known as StoryFest, will take place March 16-20. Kids will have the chance to meet favorite authors, learn how to make mini-comics, read and share new picture books and comics, and get writing advice from experienced authors with bestselling young adult books. Greening STEM Integration Grant – Apply by April 5

NEEF LogoThe National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF), with major funding support from the Mitsubishi Corporation Foundation for the Americas (MCFA), is offering funding for teachers, after-school programs, and nature organizations for projects that support the integration of Greening STEM into current or new programming or curriculum. Grants range from $500 to $1,000 and may be applied to program delivery costs, including curriculum development, field trips, program supplies, transportation, professional development, and more.
