We are very excited to announce that we have begun the process of creating a new strategic plan for ACPS. On September 3, we will convene the first meeting of the Design Team that will help us develop a new division-wide Portrait of a Graduate. The Portrait will act as a guide in creating the division’s strategic plan, which will aim to ensure that schools engage with and meet the needs of all students while preparing them with the skills and habits they need to thrive in a complex and rapidly-changing world. On behalf of the Human Resources Department and the Intranet Project Team, we are very excited to announce the launch of the new Inside Albemarle – Human Resources site. After months of work by Human Resources staff, the new site launched this morning!

The new Inside Albemarle – Human Resources and the associated HR COVID Resources sites can be accessed on your desktop, laptop, or even mobile device. (You can visit https://albemarlecountyva.sharepoint.com/sites/HumanResources/ through your web browser or even install the SharePoint App on your mobile device.) However, you will need to be signed in to your Microsoft Office account to access content. If you’re not already signed in, you will be prompted to enter your ACPS email address and then your ACPS password (the same credentials you use to sign in to your Outlook email). Continue reading

Required COVID-19 Safety Training – Complete by Sept. 8

In compliance with State Code §16VAC25-60-220, Emergency Temporary Standard for COVID-19 Infectious Disease Prevention, Albemarle County Public Schools is requiring ALL STAFF to complete COVID-19 Employee Safety Training. As we continue the Return to School plan, it is important that all employees are aware of how to stay safe at school and work. Employees should complete Steps 1 and 2 by Tuesday, September 8, 2020.

Content Opportunities Course for K-5 Educators Coming This Fall: Informational Meeting on Sept. 3

Attention all K-5 teachers: You’re invited to attend a brief informational meeting about a Content Opportunities Course we will be offering this fall. The course aims to support implementation of inquiry-based curricula in science and social studies. A strong group of teachers, coaches and LTIs will collaborate to support this work. Required Safety Training for K-8 Science Teachers

The VDOE is offering two safety webinars on August 31 at 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. As another option, ACPS Lead Coach Katina Dudley will be offering a safety training opportunity on September 3 during division PLC. Registration for Staff Child Care Program Now Open!

Dear Colleagues:

Thank you to those of you who participated in our child care survey earlier this month. Your responses helped us assess the needs of our employees and informed our planning.

We are happy to announce that the Albemarle County Public Schools (ACPS) Staff Child Care Program (SCCP) will open on Tuesday, September 8, at three locations: Brownsville Elementary School, Hollymead Elementary School, and Monticello High School.

The program is currently staffed to serve about 150 students division-wide from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. each school day. The SCCP will operate as a self-sustaining, non-profit program with a flat weekly rate of $150 per child (regardless of the number of days a child attends). Children aged 4-12 are eligible to participate.
