Tomorrow morning, we will share the following message with our school families; however, we wanted to share the information first with you.
Dear School Division Families,
We have received many inquiries about the status of the Albemarle County Public Schools annual calendar print publication. We love that our annual calendar brings joy and value to so many of our school families, and we are disappointed to share with you our decision not to publish one for the 2020-21 school year.
For many years now, we have welcomed families back to school with the delivery of our school year calendar. It has long provided an opportunity for the school division to celebrate the creativity and talents of our student artists and to share useful and frequently requested information with all of our school families.
As you can imagine, the COVID-19 pandemic has presented multiple and unique challenges to the school division over the past several months, from confronting a long-term closure of schools and contending with a $14 million reduction in our budget to determining how best to facilitate high-quality teaching and learning in a mostly virtual environment. Through it all, we have worked tirelessly to support the needs of the school division and communicate the most important information to our school families.
Unfortunately, the demands of this workload left little time to focus on some of our usual work, such as the annual school calendar. We certainly hope to return to this work next summer!
In the meantime, we do not want to miss this opportunity to share some amazing student artwork with you. We invite you to explore the 2020 ACPS Visual Arts Festival online gallery, featuring photographs of all of the festival entries, which you can filter by school level.
