January Elementary DPLC Selections: Respond by Dec. 15
Attention Elementary Teachers: On Thursday, January 25, elementary classroom teachers will not meet in their regular grade-level groups. Instead, all elementary classroom teachers are invited to choose one of the following options and complete this form by Friday, December 15. Continue reading
Upcoming Pay Increase & January Paychecks
During their November meeting, the school board approved a 2% pay increase for all regular employees. As such, pay and step scales will be adjusted effective January 1, 2024. Here’s what you can expect to see in your January 2024 pay statements:
- The pay rate increase will appear beginning with the January 19 paychecks.
- VRS-eligible employees will see updated VRS contribution amounts (employer and employee) on their January 5 pay statement.
- 2024 medical/dental/vision plan year premium rates will be effective starting with the January 5 pay.
Auto Deletion of Emails
Beginning on February 11, 2024, ACPS will implement an automated email deletion process for emails that are 7 years old or older. This adjustment aligns with the guidelines provided by the Library of Virginia to ensure that we maintain compliance and efficiency in managing our digital records.

It’s Not Too Late to Start Your Culturally Responsive Micro-Credential
The ACPS strategic plan sets the goal for all licensed staff to earn an ACPS Culturally Responsive Teaching Certification or Micro-Credential by 2026 (or, for new teachers, within three years of hire). Currently, we have over 380 credentialed educators in the division and nearly 200 on track to finish the first of three micro-credential courses by January! Teacher Innovation Grant Opportunity – Apply by Dec. 30
Attention teachers! The Public Education Foundation of Charlottesville-Albemarle (PEFCA) has launched its annual Teacher Innovation Grant program to support innovative, exciting and creative learning opportunities for public school students in Albemarle County and Charlottesville City. Mini grants up to $499 are available, as well as three tiers of project funding up to $4,500! Proposals must be received by noon on December 30, 2023, to be considered for funding for a January 2024 grant. (Grants can be used to support projects in spring and/or fall 2024.) Continue reading
