Attention All Employees: It’s Time to Complete the 2023-24 Online Annual Training (OATS)
Attention All Regular (Non-Temporary) Employees: The Online Annual Training System (OATS) is ready to inform you of your rights and responsibilities as ACPS employees. This required annual training is online, interactive and comprehensive. There are two components: an OATS 2023-24 policy and best practices review, and a Safe Schools: Child Abuse: Mandatory Reporting training.
All regular (non-temporary) employees must complete the training by the end of this school year. To get started, log in to the Professional Learning Management System (PLMS) and visit the Courses tab. Continue reading
Department of Instruction Reorganization
The school division has begun moving forward with a series of initiatives and actions in response to the recommendations from our 2023 Instructional Practices Audit. Bellwether, the national nonprofit that conducted the audit, presented ACPS with five broad recommendations to address deficiencies in the areas of instructional tasks, adult learning, curricular resources, strategic alignment, and stakeholder engagement.

The Shannon Foundation is prepared to award Level 1 grants up to $750 to classroom teachers for projects that support original and innovative student activities, and Level 2 grants up to $5,000 to schools for creative projects that enhance student learning across age and grade levels. April is Month of the Military Child, and Wednesday, April 17, is “Purple Up! For Military Kids” Day!
“Purple Up! For Military Kids” is a day set aside for everyone around the nation to show their support for military-connected students. The Virginia Department of Education encourages school communities, including teachers, principals, students, parents, bus drivers, etc., to wear purple on Wednesday, April 17, to show support for our military students and appreciation for their strength and sacrifices. Welcome Lexia
We have begun rostering students in Lexia. This tool will be available to us through ALL In Virginia for the rest of this school year and next. It is an exciting tool aligned with the work we have been doing around literacy and the science of reading.
As part of this implementation, we are excited to announce that ACPS is able to launch the myLexia app for teachers and students with Lexia accounts. The app is now available via ClassLink if your school has been rostered in PowerSchool. Continue reading
