Spring brings daffodils, warmer temps, and retirements! We recommend that employees retiring under the Virginia Retirement System (VRS) at the end of this school year submit their VRS application materials to Human Resources (HR) by April 1 in order to avoid delayed retirement benefits. Remember: Submitting a retirement application does not serve as official notice of your retirement to the division. If you are sure that you are not returning next year, please submit a resignation/retirement letter to your principal or supervisor to inform them and HR of your intentions. This helps with staffing for the next school year and ensures that you receive all the information you need with regard to the retirement process.
