Northrop Grumman Launches Middle School Contest to Promote STEM Innovation – Apply by June 12
Northrop Grumman Foundation is on a mission to get kids excited about science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), so they’re making five grants of up to $100,000 available to public middle schools for their very own fabulous school lab makeover. The Fab School Labs application window is open through June 12. The winning schools will team up with Fab School Labs contest partner Flinn Scientific, Inc., to design a state-of-the-art lab complete with all of the tools, resources and furnishings needed. Chesapeake Bay Trust Mini Grants (up to $5,000) – Apply by June 12
The Chesapeake Bay Trust Mini Grant Program was established to provide accessible funds to schools, organizations and agencies to educate students about their local watersheds and how they can become environmental stewards and make a difference in watershed health. To accomplish this goal, the program supports meaningful outdoor learning experiences around a watershed issue investigation, including field trips, fieldwork, student-led action projects and schoolyard habitat projects, as well as building teacher capacity to implement environmental education, including professional development trainings and programs to advance environmental literacy in the Chesapeake Bay region. VSCA 2015 Student Scholarship – Submissions Due by Apr. 17
The Virginia School Counselor Association (VSCA) 2015 Student Scholarship was established in 2015 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to Virginia students pursuing post-secondary opportunities. One scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded each year funds are available. Participants should be high school seniors planning to pursue a post-secondary opportunity, with a minimum unweighted cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Applications must be submitted by April 17, 2015; final selection will be made by May 22.
30 Grants in 30 Days Is Live – Apply by April 3!
Keep Virginia Beautiful is accepting applications for their 2015 30 Grants in 30 Days program through April 3! The program is designed to help communities, schools, parks, neighborhoods, and civic groups battle Virginia’s environmental issues on the front lines. These grants are categorized in 3 areas: Litter Prevention, Recycling, and Beautification & Community Greening. Thirty grants of $500 to $1,000 will be awarded to 30 geographically diverse areas around the Commonwealth. These grants will be awarded for 30 consecutive days starting on Earth Day, April 22, 2015. Apply for a Shannon Foundation Grant by April 24!
The Edgar and Eleanor Shannon Foundation for Excellence in Public Education wants to help teachers and schools implement their best ideas. Two levels of proposals are invited for the 2015-16 school year: Level 1 grants, not to exceed $750, will be awarded to classroom teachers for projects that support original and innovative student activities. Level 2 grants, not to exceed $5,000, may be awarded to schools for creative projects that enhance student learning across age and grade levels.
