Your ACPS Human Resources Department
As you may be aware, on July 1, 2022, Albemarle County Public Schools established a Human Resources Department focused exclusively on serving ACPS employees. Previously, Human Resources provided HR services to the school division and Albemarle County Government. Wanted: Teaching Assistants for Apprenticeship Program – Apply by Aug. 11
Albemarle County Public Schools has received a $200,000 grant from the Virginia Department of Education to support a path to teaching via apprenticeship! Human Resources is now seeking dedicated and passionate teaching assistants with an associate degree to join our two-year apprenticeship program. In this unique opportunity, participants will train alongside a skilled Master Teacher for two years, developing valuable classroom skills. Teach Special Education This Fall!

We have a special opportunity for classified employees who already have a bachelor’s degree to become a special education teacher this fall. Taking this step means being placed on the teacher pay scale and, once provisional licensure is obtained, becoming the teacher of record in a classroom. New Contract Process for 2023-24; Signed Contracts Due June 9
Teachers and other licensed positions who were reappointed by the school board on May 25 will receive their contracts in ADP by end-of-day on Thursday, June 1. This year, we will send all licensed contracts through ADP on a rolling basis between May 26 and June 1. These contracts are due to be electronically signed by Friday, June 9. Human Resources (HR) recommends checking your ADP account at the end of each day until your contract hits your account.

2023-24 Staff Work Calendars Now Published
Staff calendars for the 2023-24 school year are now published on the Time and Attendance Documentation web page (under “Employees” or “Timekeepers”). Please use the published work calendars for guidance on your schedule rather than what you see on your future timecard, as timecards do not always show holidays and non-workdays until the actual work week. Personal Leave: Feedback Requested by May 15
Throughout the spring semester, the Employee Voice and Action Committee (EVAAC) has been evaluating several issues related to working conditions for ACPS employees. At this point, we would like to share an update on our work pertaining to personal leave, which is earned by 10- and 11-month employees. (This should not be confused with annual leave, which is earned by 12-month employees.) In addition to sharing this update, we are asking 10- and 11-month employees for input to guide our next steps. Employee Engagement Survey Extended Through Friday
To ensure that every employee who wants to share feedback has the opportunity to do so, we’ve extended our 2023 Employee Engagement Survey through this Friday, March 24. Earlier today, Gallup (support@mail.gallup.com) sent an email to employees who have yet to participate; that email contains a unique survey link to take their Q12 Employee Engagement Survey.
