TeacherDirect is a weekly e-newsletter published by the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) as a direct line of communication with classroom teachers and educators. The goal of TeacherDirect is to share new instructional resources created by VDOE staff and to make teachers aware of professional development and grant opportunities, SOL resources, and other information of special interest to teachers and their students. The Public Education Foundation of Charlottesville-Albemarle invites Albemarle County and Charlottesville City public school educators, administrators, board members, and supporters to a reception on Wednesday, September 13, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at The Wine Guild of Charlottesville, located just off Harris Street at 600 Concord Avenue. This reception is all about coming together as a community to show appreciation for the hard work of our educators and the importance of quality public education.

Mental Health First Aid helps individuals assist someone who is experiencing a mental health or substance use-related crisis. In the Mental Health First Aid course, participants learn risk factors and warning signs for mental health and addiction concerns, strategies for how to help someone in both crisis and non-crisis situations, and where to turn for help. The Department of Technology has partnered with the Department of Instruction to acquire a single sign-on (SSO) system called ClassLink. This system will allow teachers and students to use their ACPS username and password to log in to ClassLink LaunchPad, where they will be able to access all approved teaching and learning tools.
