Any school division employee can arrange to be tested for COVID-19 as the result of an opportunity made available by the county’s infection control team. PCR tests via throat or nasal swab are being offered, at no cost, on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday each week between the hours of 4 and 6 p.m. Testing is being conducted at Jessup House, located at 614 East High Street in Charlottesville, and, in most instances, results will be available within 48 hours.
To make an appointment for testing, school-based employees should contact their school nurse. All other employees should call the infection control team at 434-972-4053. A team member will schedule the test and assist with online registration.
Those arriving at Jessup House for a test should use the first floor side entrance and have either their driver’s license or another form of ID. Limited parking is provided off East Jefferson Street in spaces marked “Reserved.” Spaces marked “NDS Reserved” should not be used.
An employee interested in testing does not need to have experienced any COVID-19 symptoms (fever or chills; cough; shortness of breath or difficulty breathing; fatigue; muscle or body aches; headache; new loss of taste or smell; sore throat; congestion or runny nose; nausea or vomiting; diarrhea), nor is known exposure to someone with COVID-19 necessary.
