All candidates planning to pursue an ACPS Certificate or Micro-Credential in Culturally Responsive Teaching are required to submit an Intent to Pursue Form and the required documentation by January 6, 2023.

What?

Candidates planning to submit a final product for assessment in May are required to complete an Intent to Pursue Form that links evidence of an equity audit and reflections on professional learning and professional growth aligned with the framework. Completion of the Culturally Responsive Teaching and the Brain (Hammond) book study is a prerequisite for submitting the Intent to Pursue.

  1. Candidates will submit a completed Equity Audit Processing Worksheet OR a similar document that addresses all of the components of this tool.
  2. Candidates will submit a completed Guiding Questions Graphic Organizer, Guiding Questions Outline, OR a similar document that addresses the required components of these tools. (Note that slides 4-15 of the CRT and the Brain book study from this year meet the requirements.) You are not expected to provide final evidence of application or evidence of student growth at this point.

How?

On or before January 6, 2023, you must submit the Intent to Pursue Form. This form will provide space for you to link your work. An Equity Specialist or Credentialed Educator will review your submission and provide feedback.

Why?

By waiting until January for an official commitment to pursuing a Certificate or Micro-Credential in Culturally Responsive Teaching, candidates have had an opportunity to engage in enough professional learning around the ACPS Culturally Responsive Teaching framework and the expectations for the process to make an informed decision about whether they are in a place to submit a product for assessment in May. Submission of work in January will allow feedback to direct candidates’ work toward submission of a successful product in May.
