Welcome back, teachers! As you know, next Monday and Tuesday, August 10 and 11,
are division-level professional development days. Please see below for detailed information about how each day will be spent, and let your principal know if you have any questions or concerns.
DIVISION-LEVEL PROFESSIONAL LEARNING – AUGUST 10
MONTICELLO HIGH SCHOOL
Trade off if attended summer professional development (DLI sessions)—if you met the PD requirements in July, you do not have to report to work August 10.
AM workshops: 8:30 to 11:30
PM workshops: 12:30 to 3:30
Lunch is “on your own.”
Purpose: The Digital Learning Initiative—Digital learning empowers young people to develop personal responsibility for learning by providing options to:
- Select from a range of digital content that support curricula.
- Create products and projects that show content mastery through a variety of media.
- Choose technologies that best match learning tasks, accessing learning resources instantaneously.
- Work at home, in the community, and at school, individually and with others.
- Learn asynchronously and synchronously; as time to learn may vary based on individual needs.

DIVISION-LEVEL COLLABORATION – AUGUST 11
VARIOUS LOCATIONS
Morning activities: 8:30 to 11:15 – for all ACPS teachers
Afternoon activities: 12:45 to 3:30 – vary by roles and responsibilities
There are a few all-day events; please check the schedule carefully.
Purpose: Provide an opportunity for teachers in the same feeder pattern to meet and discuss opportunities for developing student experiences. Division level Content Advisory Teams (CAT) will meet in the afternoon to develop strategies for each content K-12 team for improving our focus on student learning.
