The Walter N. Ridley Distinguished Lecture at the University of Virginia is hosting a free lecture on Monday, March 23, at 2 p.m. Alfredo J. Artilles, Ph.D., will present Culture in Disability in the Global Era: Interdisciplinary Notes for New Research Programs.
Presentation Description: “I critique in this lecture the ways in which the construct of culture has been theorized and used in disability research. I argue researchers must theorize this construct from interdisciplinary perspectives to understand the complex roles culture plays in human activities. I outline a framework that accounts for the individual, interpersonal, and institutional dimensions of culture that can inform future research programs.”
Admission is free and open to the public. Seating is limited. Registration is required.
