Attention Elementary & Middle School Teachers: Albemarle County Public Schools has provided streaming video content and video management through YouTube to all students for a number of years as a component of our G Suite for Education. During our annual Terms of Service review, the Department of Learning Engineering, Access, and Design (LEAD) identified the need to remove access to certain features in YouTube for all elementary and middle school students. As a result, after Spring Break, elementary and middle school students will no longer be able to access the videos they have uploaded to their channel or the playlists associated with their account.
Students who wish to keep the content they have uploaded to YouTube will need to migrate their videos prior to March 30, 2018, using these instructions: How to download your YouTube videos »
Elementary and middle school students will continue to be able to access YouTube content as a learning resource. The decision to remove access to specific YouTube features is based on recently added age restrictions to YouTube’s terms of service. These features enable students, after signing into YouTube with their ACPS network credentials, to manage channels and upload video content. Adjustments to students’ YouTube permissions will be made over Spring Break.
While elementary and middle school students will no longer be able to access the videos they have uploaded to their channel or the playlists associated with their account, teachers and high school students will continue to be able to use these features in YouTube.
