Students need to build skills in the 5Cs* in order to succeed in the world outside of school. But how can teachers focus on these skills and still meet the demands of the Standards of Learning? The Virginia Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (VASCD) invites you to attend Like Peanut Butter and Jelly: Uniting the 5Cs and the SOL to learn an intentional planning process that will help your students develop the 5Cs and master SOL content at the same time. Choose from one of three sessions:
September 28 in Roanoke | October 19 in Winchester | November 2 in Richmond
Shannon King, Manager of Best Practices for Teaching and Learning for Fairfax County Schools, will present. She is a leader and expert in teaching for deeper learning and innovative assessment methods, and serves as a Training Associate for the Thinking Collaborative.
*The 5 Cs for student learning endorsed by the Virginia Board of Education are critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, and citizenship.
