As many as 70,000 Albemarle County voters are expected to participate in the presidential election this year. As an additional service to voters, the Albemarle County Registrar’s Office has established a new location where completed mail-in ballots can be submitted. Beginning Monday of next week, ballots can be dropped off at Albemarle High School on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings between 8:00 and 11:00 and on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons between 2:00 and 5:00.
Voters who bring their completed ballot to Albemarle High School are asked to ensure their marked ballot is inside the envelope lettered B and that this envelope is then placed inside their ballot return envelope and sealed. A tent and signage will be set up in the school’s parking lot to direct voters to the ballot box.
Voters still have the option of returning their completed mail-in ballot to the drop-box located at the County Office Building at 1600 5th Street at any time of day or night between now and 7 p.m. on election day, November 3. Or, voters can deposit their mail-in ballot on election day at any of the county’s 30 polling places, also up until 7 p.m. Do not drop off your ballot at any location other than these that have been identified.
Registered voters can request a mail-in ballot though this Friday, October 23. For more information or to track your mailed ballot, visit Albemarle County’s How to Vote web page.
