Albemarle County Public Schools is looking for bus drivers and hoping that our employees may be able to help! Every employee can help recruit by sharing information about these positions and the joy of serving the community by working with children and students.

Any ACPS employee who refers a candidate who successfully completes training will receive a $1,000 bonus! (The applicant must list the ACPS employee’s name to qualify for the bonus.) In addition, that driver will receive a $2,000 sign-on bonus once they earn their CDL license and receive a route assignment.

What are some benefits of driving with ACPS?

There are many benefits of driving a bus with ACPS, but here are some highlights:

• Beginning on July 1, 2024, the minimum starting salary for our drivers will be $23.39 per hour. Our drivers are now paid on a step scale, meaning that a driver’s starting salary may be higher if they have past experience driving a bus!
• Drivers who work at least 20 hours a week are eligible for full-time medical and dental benefits.
• Drivers who work at least 30 hours a week are eligible for Virginia Retirement System (VRS) benefits.
• Drivers with children or grandchildren can save money on daycare by bringing their children along on their routes!
• Our drivers also have a great opportunity to make a positive impact on our community and our students!
