From the afternoon of July 16 through noon on July 19, 2014, teachers from across Virginia and the nation will have the opportunity to experience life on an 18th century colonial plantation, Stratford Hall, on the Potomac River south of Washington, D.C. The 4th Annual Stratford Hall Summer Institute will focus on Stratford Hall, the Lee family, and the Atlantic world in the revolutionary period. Topics of study will include slavery, politics of revolution in Virginia, domestic life, and the relationship of private life to public affairs of the American Revolution.
