Attention High School Teachers: This evening, November 18, the “Summer Assignment and 9th Grade Transition” survey will open to all high school students.
Recently, the Albemarle County School Health Advisory Board (SHAB) has been studying ACPS High Schools’ practice of providing mandatory summer assignments for some courses. In partnership with the SHAB, we are providing a feedback survey for students who completed summer assignments this past summer.
In addition, one of the Albemarle County School Board’s strategic priorities is to prepare all students for successful transition to the next grade in their pre-kindergarten through twelfth-grade experience. Ninth grade is a pivotal transition year for high school success, and we would like to hear from 9th graders about the quality of the transition activities they experienced this year. Transition programs might include academic counseling and course planning, learning more about school activities and clubs, touring the school facilities, or being assigned a mentor.
The survey is anonymous. All high school students will see five (5) questions about summer assignments, and 9th graders will see an additional four (4) questions about the transition experience. The survey window will close on December 5, at midnight.
