Don’t forget: This Friday, April 19, is our division-wide fundraiser for the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. All employees are invited to wear jeans for a cause and donate $1.00 to support the Food Bank.
Every dollar collected will go straight to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, which benefits our whole community, including many of our students and families in need. One dollar pays for four meals, so $10 pays for 40 meals, and $100 pays for 400 meals! Just think, if every single one of us wore jeans this Friday and chipped in a dollar, together we could provide enough funding to the Food Bank to pay for 10,000 meals for people in need in our community!
Participation in this fundraiser is totally voluntary. Please give monetary contributions to your principal or department head.
Why the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank?
In early March, through his Weekly Check-in, Superintendent Matt Haas invited employees to submit an idea for a fundraiser we could all support that aligns with the division’s Core Values of excellence, young people, community, and respect. Dr. Haas received seven submissions and then sent out a poll asking all employees to choose the top cause for the fundraiser. Nearly 400 employees participated in the ACPS Fundraiser Poll, and the top ranked organization was the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank.
This Friday, April 19, Dr. Haas invites all employees to wear jeans to work to support the Food Bank.
“I realize that we wear jeans all the time, but on this particular day, wear them for a cause,” said Dr. Haas. “Please talk up this fun fundraiser among yourselves and support the cause. It’s a great way for all of us to work together, have fun, and do something extra special for our community,” he added.
