Thank you to all ACPS staff members who provided feedback about our current Learning Management System (LMS), Blackboard Learn. The results of our surveys are available on the Learning Technologies Blackboard page.
Based on this feedback, the Department of Student Learning and the Department of Learning Engineering, Access, and Design (LEAD) have issued a Request For Proposal (RFP) to begin a search for a new LMS. The requirements for this search were based on both teacher feedback and a comprehensive review of Blackboard Learn. This RFP invites vendors to propose a comprehensive solution to meet our digital learning management needs.
After the RPF process has concluded, the Department of Student Learning and LEAD will host vendor demonstrations from the considered systems. We are looking for both teachers and building administrators from Grades 6-12 to attend. Participants will provide feedback from the demonstrations, and this feedback will be used as part of the process of recommending a preferred LMS solution for ACPS. This solution will be implemented in the 2019-2020 school year.
Participants should plan on attending two demonstrations on Tuesday, November 6 (all day), and one demonstration on Tuesday, November 13 (morning only). Participating teachers will then provide feedback via an evaluation rubric. Please Note: The November 13 demonstration will be canceled if only two proposals are selected as finalists.
The deadline to express interest in participation is Friday, October 12. You can sign up by sending an email to LMS Support (lmssupport@k12albemarle.org) with your name, school, position, and subject(s) taught. Participation will be confirmed by October 29, and participants will be provided with more detailed information about the demonstrations and the evaluation rubric at that time. Teachers attending the November 6 event will be paid a stipend of $75, as this is a trade-off day for previously completed parent/teacher conferences. Substitutes will be provided for teachers attending the November 13 event if it is held. If you would like more information about this process or have questions, please contact LMS Support (lmssupport@k12albemarle.org).
