The ACPS Office of Professional Development would like share the following summer 2023 professional development opportunities, including Responsive Classroom (core and advanced) and Developmental Designs (for middle school and high school), as well as a reminder about the Embracing Our Narratives Summer Teacher Institute being offered by the Jefferson School African American Heritage Center. All elementary school teachers are expected to participate in Responsive Classroom training. If you have not yet participated in this training to support building inclusive, positive classroom environments, please consider signing up for one of the summer opportunities listed below:
Responsive Classroom (Core)
June 20-23; July 10-13; or July 31 – August 3
Responsive Classroom (Advanced)
June 20-23 or July 10-13
All middle and high school teachers are expected to participate in Developmental Designs (DD) training. If you have not yet participated in this training to support building inclusive, positive classroom environments, please consider signing up for one of the summer opportunities listed below:

Responsive Classroom and Developmental Designs participants will receive a stipend of $135 for each day of participation in the trainings. As a reminder, in order to receive professional development points and a certificate of completion, participants must attend all four days of the training.

EMBRACING OUR NARRATIVES SUMMER TEACHER INSTITUTE
The Jefferson School African American Heritage Center invites local educators to apply for Embracing Our Narratives Summer Teacher Institute, a free one-week program for K-12 educators to explore local history through the lens of African American people. Participants will visit local historical sites, learn from local history experts and community educators, and engage in curriculum planning with colleagues. The Institute will be held June 19-23 for approximately five hours per day.
