A message from Sarah Lawson, Assistant Director of the Virginia Center for the Book
Planning for the 2017 Virginia Festival of the Book (March 22-26) is now underway, and we are eager to work with ACPS teachers, librarians, and reading specialists to schedule classroom/school visits and/or assemblies with some of the featured children’s and young adult authors in all genres.
We hope to schedule more author school visits in the 2017 Festival than ever before, so we encourage you to explore this opportunity, whether you have in the past or not. We will work with interested individuals and schools to:
- Find appropriate author matches for any grades and/or reading levels;
- Identify subject matter matches for authors and classes (from science or history nonfiction to YA fiction or poetry, and everything in between);
- Coordinate scheduling and transportation for the visit; and
- Provide funding assistance under certain circumstance.
If you are interested in exploring this opportunity, please email Sarah Lawson at sdlawson@virginia.edu by Thursday, October 27, 2016, with information about the grade level(s) and subject area interest(s) you would like to have an author visit address. We hope to hear from you soon!
