Each year, Charlottesville City Schools and Albemarle County Public Schools join forces with several community organizations to offer free school supplies and backpacks to families in need. This year’s Back to School Bash will be held on Saturday, August 20, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the Ting Pavilion in Downtown Charlottesville. In addition to free school supplies, the event will feature music, games, local vendors, and more!
In order to make this special event a success for our families, we need volunteers! In advance of the event, on Saturday, August 13, we need helpers to organize school supplies for distribution. Then, on the day of the event, Saturday, August 20, we need volunteers to set up, distribute school supplies, assist the distributors, monitor the flow of traffic and answer questions, and clean up after the event. Important Note! Volunteers must attend one of the following one-hour training sessions:
- Saturday, August 13 | 12 noon | Mount Zion First African Baptist Church
- Wednesday, August 17 | 11:30 a.m. | Virtual Training
- Saturday, August 20 | 9 a.m. | Ting Pavilion
