The Department of Technology welcomes you to the 2021-22 school year! We have several important updates and best practices we’d like to share with you:
On-site Technology Staff Assignments: We have adjusted some Learning Technology Integrator (LTI) and Technology Support Specialist (TSS) building assignments for this school year. Click here for the list of assignments.
How to Receive Technology Support: We welcome you to contact our Service Desk to request support. Watch our video to learn about the three ways to contact the Service Desk: How to Submit a Ticket. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us!
Reimage Your Computer: We encourage you to get your laptop reimaged for the best technology experience. Be sure to make arrangements with your assigned TSS to get your laptop reimaged. If you are due for a laptop replacement, your TSS will be in touch to deliver your new laptop and retrieve your old one. ACPS has a four-year replacement cycle for all staff laptops.
Important Zoom Update: Zoom’s free license parameters limit the length of a meeting to 40 minutes and 100 attendees or less. These parameters were waived last year during the pandemic; however, Zoom has now withdrawn that waiver. We understand that some virtual meetings will take longer than 40 minutes, so we encourage you to plan for a break. The meeting room will need to be closed and then reopened. Please view our ACPS Zoom Guidelines for answers to frequently asked questions.
Change Your Password: After a pause during the pandemic year, we must reinstitute a required password change for all staff and all students in grades 3-12. If you and your students do not change your password before October 14, 2021, a forced password prompt will occur. This timing is strategic, allowing you and your students time to get acclimated to the new school year and time for digital citizenship instruction to take place. Did you know that ACPS has an AD Self Password Reset portal that you can use to self-manage your password? Important reminder: Our department will never ask you for your password. Please do not share your password with anyone!
Technology Resources: We have tried to make it easy for you to find the right technology resources and experiences for your classroom. The ACPS Technology Resources Library contains a list of available resources, instructions on how to get them, and information about any applicable restrictions. If you don’t see an application you’d like to use, please click “Request New Resource” so we can look into it for you.
Department of Technology Website: Please visit our website for a ton of information and resources! You can also follow the Department of Technology on Twitter and Facebook for updates.
We look forward to supporting you this school year!
