What Superintendent Moran has to say: Kids are active more than ever in our schools. Seating options are available in many classrooms across our schools. Standing tables and desks and many other choices exist for both individual and group learning activities. Some schools have increased the number of recesses and breaks available to learners based on movement research in schools. PE teachers have worked with classroom teachers on strategies to get kids moving periodically in some schools in Albemarle. We know from medical research that sitting for extended periods of times isn’t healthy for adults or young students.
