Staff Wellness

  • TeacherFit
    Asynchronous
    TeacherFit is a physical and mental health platform designed to meet the needs of educators. The virtual platform offers a range of resources with new classes and guided sessions released each week. As a reminder, all ACPS staff members are invited to join this on-demand platform designed to support physical and mental well-being. Register here or log in to the app to get started.
  • Teacher Wellness Hub
    Asynchronous
    We have built a collection of resources and articles on teacher wellness with an emphasis on self-care. The collection is housed on the Online Professional Development page, which is accessible through the “External & Virtual PD” tab of the ACPS Professional Development site. The collection will be updated regularly, so check back often!
  • Teaching in Tough Times: Staying Resilient During COVID-19 and Beyond
    Small Group Workshop | Start Date: March 4
    Counselor and mental health expert, Steffi Winter-Martin, will facilitate a second session of her four-part series for educators interested in learning more about stress, our response to stress, and strategies for managing it. Workshop space is limited to ensure a more personal experience. Please register for the Elementary or Secondary offering through our internal PD Opportunities page.
  • Teacher Well-Being Through Mindfulness
    Small Group Workshop | Start Date: February 25
    Mindfulness practice is bringing full, non-judgmental attention to what is happening in the present moment. Through this six-part series with Elyse Cooner, you will learn about the science and research surrounding multiple factors of well-being. This series provides instruction in formal and informal practices that cultivate mindfulness. Please register through our internal PD Opportunities page.

Supporting EL Students

Supporting English Learners in Hybrid and Virtual Learning Settings
Synchronous and Asynchronous Small Group Workshop | Start Date: February 25
Join members of our ESOL team for an interactive series that examines a variety of perspectives from teachers and researchers around the world to help you gain practical, effective and interactive strategies to use with our students this year and in the future. Designed for both ESOL and content/general ed teachers, this series will include collaboration and reflection. Sessions begin February 25. Please register through our internal PD Opportunities page.

Culturally Responsive Teaching

Our Equity Specialists are hosting three Culturally Responsive Teaching modules. Though all ACPS employees are welcome to attend, these sessions are a requirement for those pursuing CRT Certification or a Micro-credential. Please register through our internal PD Opportunities page.

  • Culturally Responsive Teaching Module 1: Examining Cultural Lenses
    Small Group Workshop | Thursday, March 11 | 4:45 to 6:45 p.m.
    In this first module of a three-part professional development series, you will be introduced to the first characteristic of Culturally Responsive Teaching. During this virtual session, we will discuss how Culturally Responsive Teachers acknowledge and incorporate the cultural influences of all students, while reflecting on their own personal cultural lenses. You will also have time to explore examples of how Culturally Responsive Educators in ACPS apply and track student growth through this characteristic.
  • Culturally Responsive Teaching Module 2: Designing Instruction with Culture in Mind
    Small Group Workshop | Thursday, March 18 | 4:45 to 6:45 p.m.
    In this second module of a three-part professional development series, you will be introduced to the second characteristic of Culturally Responsive Teaching. During this virtual session, we will discuss how Culturally Responsive Teachers teach to and through culture as they plan curriculum and instruction that is differentiated, rigorous and relevant. You will also have time to explore examples of how Culturally Responsive Educators in ACPS apply and track student growth through this characteristic.
  • Culturally Responsive Teaching Module 3: Building Learning Partnerships with Students & Families
    Small Group Workshop | Thursday, March 25 | 4:45 to 6:45 p.m.
    In this third module of a three-part professional development series, you will be introduced to the third characteristic of Culturally Responsive Teaching. During this virtual session, we will discuss how Culturally Responsive Teachers build positive learning partnerships with students and families. You will also have time to explore examples of how Culturally Responsive Educators in ACPS apply and track student growth through this characteristic.
