The following message was issued from Nelsie Birch, Chief Financial Officer for Albemarle County, on Friday, October 28, 2022:
I am writing to share that an audit of payments to the Virginia Retirement System (VRS) has revealed that an internal system error has resulted in a need to reconcile some employee VRS accounts due to an underpayment or overpayment of the required member contribution (5% of your regular pay). This will result in the need to deduct additional contributions from employees who had an insufficient amount of contributions deducted from their pay and to refund member contributions that were in excess of the required 5%. About half of our employees are impacted by this, and the predominant amount to be deducted or refunded is under $10. Continue reading →

ADP Benefits: Employee Self-Serve Options Go Live This Afternoon!
We are activating additional self-serve options in ADP! (Current self-serve options include viewing your pay statements, changing your federal and state withholding amounts, and updating your personal contact information.) Beginning this afternoon, our self-serve options will expand to include reviewing your benefits elections and requesting changes to your benefits enrollments (including adding/dropping medical/dental plans or adding/dropping covered dependents) in conjunction with a mid-year Qualifying Life Event (such as marriage, birth, divorce, or a change of employment status that impacts your access or the access of your spouse and/or dependents to medical/dental coverage). The planned expansion of self-serve options in the ADP Employee Portal, including reviewing benefits elections and requesting changes to benefits enrollments in conjunction with a mid-year Qualifying Life Event, will not occur on Monday, October 17, as previously announced. Following the transfer of employee data from Great Plains (our former system for tracking employee information) to our new Human Resources Information System (HRIS), the project team needs additional time to ensure the accuracy of the data transfer. We apologize for any inconvenience; however, we expect this to be short delay and will provide an update in this Thursday’s HR Weekly Update.
Starting next week, we are expanding the self-serve options available in the ADP Employee Portal to include reviewing your benefits elections and requesting changes to your benefits enrollments in conjunction with a mid-year Qualifying Life Event. Also, our vaccination clinics are well underway! ALL Albemarle County and Albemarle County Public Schools employees and public safety volunteers are eligible to participate with no out-of-pocket cost. Please read on to learn more about each of these announcements. Continue reading →
