If you are a VCU Reading Specialist Cohort candidate who would like assistance with the application process, please join us this Thursday evening, May 18, for an open work session with Dr. Jenna Lenhardt from the VCU School of Education. We will meet in the library at Albemarle High School from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., and participants should bring their laptop. To help with our planning efforts, please complete our registration form if you plan to attend.

Personal Leave: Feedback Requested by May 15

Throughout the spring semester, the Employee Voice and Action Committee (EVAAC) has been evaluating several issues related to working conditions for ACPS employees. At this point, we would like to share an update on our work pertaining to personal leave, which is earned by 10- and 11-month employees. (This should not be confused with annual leave, which is earned by 12-month employees.) In addition to sharing this update, we are asking 10- and 11-month employees for input to guide our next steps. James Madison University (JMU) is pleased to host an informational meeting for its Educational Leadership programs, including master’s and certificate options, this Wednesday, April 19, at 5 p.m. via Zoom. It’s not too late to apply for a Shannon Grant! The Shannon Foundation will continue to accept applications for Level 1 and Level 2 grants through Sunday, April 30. Don’t miss this fantastic opportunity to apply for up to $5,000 to fund your creative project idea! Level 1 grants up to $750 will be awarded to classroom teachers, individually or in teams, for projects that support original and innovative student activities. The PK-12 Educational Leadership program at Old Dominion University (ODU) offers Master’s (M.S.Ed.) and Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degrees (30 credits) that prepare aspiring leaders for school and division-level administrative positions. The Ph.D. in Education with a Concentration in Educational Leadership (60 credits) prepares educational leaders for professional positions in PK-12 schools, faculty positions in higher education, research positions, and state and national policy making.
