Reminder: Schedule Your Laptop Health Checkup by June 12
Thank you to all employees who have taken the steps to complete a health checkup for your laptop! As we shared in the Compass on April 21, the Department of Technology is performing division-wide health checkups on all staff laptops to ensure that everyone has a safe, reliable laptop that is ready for next school year. If you haven’t yet scheduled your laptop checkup, please reach out to your school or department’s Technology Support Specialist (TSS) by June 12.
Before your appointment, you’ll need to back up the files on your laptop. Check out these helpful directions. If you need assistance backing up your files, contact your school or department’s Learning Technology Integrator (LTI).
Technology Device Collection Plans
All students will turn in their school laptops, chargers and iPads before June 9, 2023. This timeline will allow us to update those devices in preparation for next school year. Students who are attending summer school will check out loaner devices to use for summer learning. Please reach out to your school’s assigned Technology staff with any questions.

Learning Technology Integrators (LTIs) partner with schools to support effective and responsible use of technology and to support school-wide goals through collaborative planning, modeling, reflecting, co-teaching, and professional learning. ACPS Summer Coding Camp: Now Seeking Facilitators
The Department of Technology is seeking facilitators for this summer’s ACPS Coding Camp (formerly CoderDojo). ACPS Coding Camp is a coding academy that provides Albemarle County Public Schools elementary students with opportunities for creativity, innovation and fun.
ACPS Coding Camp will be the perfect opportunity to get a jump start on learning how to integrate the new Computer Science and Digital Learning Integration Standards of Learning! Facilitators will receive $40/hour for days spent instructing students, and $150 plus 5 recertification points for each professional development day attended (up to a total of 20 points). Microsoft Store for Education Closing on March 31
Effective March 31, 2023, Microsoft is eliminating their “Microsoft Store for Education.” The Department of Technology realizes that our school division accesses various applications and tools from there, such as Minecraft. ACPS will make those resources available in Software Center as soon as it is possible to do so. Continue reading
