Employee Fundraiser: You Can Now Donate Through May 19!
ACPS has extended the donation deadline for our 2023 Employee Fundraiser to Friday, May 19! As was shared in the April 28 Superintendent’s Weekly Check-in and a May 5 Compass post, the beneficiary of this year’s employee fundraiser is Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry.

Interested in Driving a Bus to Earn Additional Pay?
Are you interested in earning some extra money? Have you ever considered taking on a bus route outside of your regular workday? That’s now a possibility… come drive a school bus! Worried that you don’t have a commercial driver’s license (CDL)? That’s not a problem! Our Transportation Services Department has a training program that will allow you to earn your CDL in time to drive for the 2023-24 school year! If you already have a CDL, you may be able to start driving sooner!
Superintendent Presents Draft Funding Request of $257 Million for 2023-24 School Year
Last Thursday evening, Superintendent Haas presented a needs-based and balanced funding request for the 2023-24 school year to the Albemarle County School Board. The request, totaling $257.3 million, includes an increase over the current adopted budget of nearly $10.9 million. The increase is supported by anticipated revenues that include an 8.8% increase in local funding and a 6.9% increase in state funding.
Video Spotlight: School Safety Info Session
Last Wednesday evening, November 30, our Community Engagement team hosted an online forum on school safety. Among the experts who spoke were Sally Hudson, who represents Albemarle in the Virginia House of Delegates, and our state senator, Creigh Deeds. They were joined by professors and researchers from the University of Virginia, a representative from the Albemarle County Police Department, and several professionals from our Student Services program. In addition to the current state of safety in our schools and our prevention and protective measures, conversations addressed how our school division is meeting the social and emotional needs of students.

Making Connections 2022 — It’s a Wrap!
To all who participated in Making Connections this year: Thank you! As Superintendent Haas highlighted in his November 11 Weekly Check-in, we had a successful day of learning together at both Albemarle and Monticello high schools. Special thanks to all of our wonderful and talented staff who volunteered their time and efforts to present and share throughout the day. Open Enrollment Is Coming: Start Preparing Now!
Our annual Open Enrollment window will be live Tuesday, November 1 – Tuesday, November 15. This year, ALL benefits-eligible employees must log in to ADP to either enroll in or decline benefits for the 2023 plan year, including medical and dental insurance, as well as flexible spending and health savings accounts. Participation in Open Enrollment is required, as current medical/dental and Flexible Spending Account elections will NOT automatically renew for 2023.
