ACPS PDWe are providing multiple sessions throughout the school year to build skills and community around tools and technology in Albemarle County. These short courses provide teachers with the confidence and basic knowledge to try new things with students! Feel free to sign up for all topics, or just one or two. JMU Educational Leadership Program – Next Cohort Starts Sept. 4

JMU Outreach & EngagementInterested in School Administration? The James Madison University (JMU) Educational Leadership Program is starting a new cohort next Tuesday, September 4, at the Governor’s School in Fishersville! August 17 PD Sessions: Registration Now Open!

ACPS PDRegistration for August 17 Professional Development sessions is now live.

Teachers: You are responsible for 6 hours of professional development this summer. If you participated in two PD sessions July 9-19 or in CAI, Design Academy, Responsive Classroom, Developmental Designs, Intervention Institute, Albemarle County Writing Collaborative, or AVID, then you do NOT need to register for sessions on August 17.

You’re invited! On Thursday, June 28, ACPS is pleased to announce that Dr. Chris Emdin will be at Monticello High School for a morning presentation. Chris is an Associate Professor and Director of the Institute for Urban and Minority Education at Teachers College, Columbia University. His bio describes him as “a social critic, public intellectual and science advocate whose commentary on issues of race, culture, inequality and education have appeared in dozens of influential periodicals including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Washington Post.” Continue reading

VASCD Annual Conference – Session Proposals Due July 15

VASCD Learn Teach LeadThe Virginia Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (VASCD) is accepting session proposals for its 2018 Annual Conference, which will be held November 29 and 30 in Williamsburg. This year’s theme, “Beyond Measure,” focuses on students’ ability to solve real-world problems, think deeply and flexibly, and drive their own growth. Please consider sharing your exciting, inspiring work with other practitioners: Submit your session proposal by July 15.
