Jan. 22-26 is Virginia School Principals Appreciation Week

Superintendent Pam MoranDear Members of Our School Community:

Among his very first actions as our new Governor, Ralph Northam signed a proclamation designating this week as Virginia School Principals Appreciation Week. Across the Commonwealth, this week is a time of recognition for the invaluable contributions that school principals make to students and to the quality of education in our state. Nowhere in Virginia are these contributions more meaningful than they are here in Albemarle County.

The Governor noted the role of our principals in effectively working with teachers, staff, parents, and the community-at-large to proactively prepare students to be self-reliant and productive citizens. Our building principals are, he said, positively impacting the future of Virginia, who are our students.

I urge our students, parents and staff to recall those occasions when your school principal made such a positive impact on you or on other students, families, or team members in your school community. I hope you will consider sharing your experience by writing a note or email to your principal or through a social media posting of appreciation.

Please join me in celebrating the extraordinary dedication of these high-performance professionals who are so inexhaustible in their concern and support for every student and staff member in their care.

Sincerely,

Pam
