This article is the fifth in a series about getting to know your Human Resources team. In this post, we’re introducing you to the benefits team.
ACPS provides a robust benefits package to employees that is designed to be competitive among area employers and Virginia school divisions, and supportive of employees and their families—from hire through retirement. Our benefits team administers our various employee benefits programs, manages relationships with associated vendors, and helps employees resolve any issues or concerns that may arise as they access their benefits.
Shelli Campbell is our Leave Specialist. Her primary focus is supporting employees in understanding their eligibility for various leave programs, such as Family Medical Leave (FML) or Leave of Absence (LOA). Shelli reviews employee leave requests and coordinates between employees, supervisors and timekeepers to support mutual understanding of anticipated leave usage and to ensure that Kronos is set up properly for the expected leave duration.
Christie Ponton is our Benefits Specialist. She focuses on assisting employees with benefits questions and changes, ensuring benefit deductions are set up properly in the ADP system and that they are administered correctly in the payroll runs. Christie liaises with our benefits vendors to resolve customer concerns, and she educates our employees on their benefits options.
Jenny Stearns serves as our Benefits Advisor. Primarily, she focuses on retirement benefits, working with current employees related to the Virginia Retirement System (VRS) and our Part-Time Employee Pension plan. Jenny assists with retirement benefit estimates, purchase of VRS service, and Hybrid Plan voluntary contributions. She offers retirement benefits consultations that holistically integrate ACPS benefits and educates on how these interface with Medicare and Social Security.
Debbie Wade is providing temporary support to the Benefits team. She focuses on assisting employees who reach out to us via phone or email at benefits@k12albemarle.org. Debbie also helps our Benefits and Employee Services teams with special projects.
Claudine Cloutier is our Program Manager for Benefits. She leads the Benefits team and is responsible for communications around our benefits programs and processes like this November’s Open Enrollment window. Throughout the year, Claudine works with cross-functional and cross-divisional teams to evaluate our benefits offerings and develop recommendations for benefits changes.
