The ReinventED Community Convening aims to bring everyone together to connect, catalyze and create change. Anyone interested in improving education is welcome to attend—students (kindergarten through college), entrepreneurs, educators, administrators, innovators, and more. Food DriveAgain, this year, Albemarle County is hosting Albemarle Against Hunger, a food drive for the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. Dan Mulligan Will Conduct Professional Learning Sessions on September 28 & 29

Dan MulliganDan Mulligan from Flexible Creativity will be conducting professional learning sessions for Albemarle County teachers on Wednesday, September 28, and Thursday, September 29.

On Wednesday, Dan will present the same workshop he provided for new ACPS teachers in August. The focus will be High Yield Instructional Strategies for Teaching Lifelong-Learner Competencies. He will conduct this session twice, once in the morning and once in the afternoon.

On Thursday, Dan will conduct a full-day workshop on Building Student Academic Knowledge, with an emphasis on how teachers do this work with struggling learners. Continue reading

Last year, Western Albemarle High School joined the fun. The French teacher had the students write Tweets in French on paper, while another group of students in the library typed them into Twitter. “One of our students, who was in the school production of The Diary of Anne Frank, was thrilled to get an answer from the Anne Frank House museum in Amsterdam,” recalls Melissa Techman, school librarian at Western Albemarle.

International Dot Day Is September 15th-ish
