Superintendent Listening Tour: Six Upcoming Opportunities for Teachers

Matthew Haas, Ed.D.Dear Colleagues,

I am both honored and enthusiastic to assume the role of Superintendent of Schools this July 1. As part of my transition from Deputy Superintendent to Superintendent, I am embarking on a Listening Tour throughout July and August. My intention is to relearn our school system from a new perspective—to see and understand our students, parents, employees, and school communities through new eyes and ears.

Through the course of observing, listening and reviewing, I aspire to align the current state of our school division with our School Board’s vision for what Albemarle County Public Schools can and should be. Your feedback is vital to this process.

I invite you to join me at one of six upcoming teacher-centered events, during which I would like to hear about your needs, challenges, aspirations, and ideas. My hope is to hear from as many of you as possible, to gain a comprehensive understanding of your diverse perspectives and ambitions as educators for our school division.

I promise to listen more than I talk, to be open to your ideas, to focus on building relationships with you that will move us forward as a school division, and to collaborate with you throughout each phase of my transition plan.

Please register to attend one of the following Listening Tour opportunities through the Opportunities Catalog (login required). If you are unable to join me in person, I hope you will share your ideas through the online form that we will make available in July.

  • July 11 | 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. | Albemarle High School | Register

Sincerely,

Matt
