A new calendar year also means a new benefits year! Whether you enrolled in a new plan during the November Open Enrollment window or kept things the same for 2024, here are some good things to know about the new benefits plan year that begins on January 1, 2024:

  • Medical and dental premiums for the new plan year will first be deducted in the January 5 paycheck.
  • All medical and dental deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums are reset as of January 1.
  • Anthem ID cards:
    • If you newly added medical or dental coverage, changed your medical or dental plans, or enrolled in the new enhanced optional vision plan, you will receive new Anthem ID cards via mail. (These are arriving in homes now.) Be sure to use your new cards beginning January 1 to avoid claims issues.
    • If you did not elect to make changes to your current coverage or enroll in the new enhanced optional vision plan, you will continue to use your current Anthem ID cards in 2024.
    • Pro tip: For convenient access to your ID cards, we suggest that you download Anthem’s Sydney Health app on your smartphone. Once you link this to your Anthem.com account, you will always have your current Anthem ID information (for you and your covered family members) right at your fingertips. You can learn more about the Sydney Health app on Anthem’s website.
  • If you newly elected a healthcare Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for 2024, you will receive a mailing from our FSA administrator, Flexible Benefits Administrators. (These are arriving in homes now.)
  • If you are newly enrolled in the Albemarle Choice medical plan for 2024, you will receive a mailing from HealthEquity, our Health Savings Account (HSA) administrator, with information about your HSA. Please be sure to activate your online HealthEquity account once you receive this information.
