Albemarle County Considering the Benefits of Adding an Employee Health and Wellness Center: Take Our Survey

In partnership with ACPS, Albemarle County is beginning the Request for Proposals (RFP) process to explore adding an employee health and wellness center as one of the benefits it offers to employees of ACPS, Local Government, and partner entities. Similar to a few localities in Virginia, this center could offer a range of services to employees, including, but not limited to, primary care, physical therapy, occupational health, pharmacy, and behavioral health. We have three goals in exploring this option:

  • Enhancing the overall health of our employees and families;
  • Removing barriers and ensuring equitable access to health and wellness services; and
  • Managing rising healthcare costs.

You can learn more about this proposed benefit on our Health & Wellness Center web page.

The results of the RFP process (cost, services offered, etc.) will determine the feasibility of moving forward with this project. As part of this process, we request your participation in a brief employee survey to provide your feedback on some logistics and share your perspectives on what would make this center more attractive to use as well as any potential barriers to using such a center. We are also interested in hearing the experiences of those who have previously worked for an employer who offered a similar resource to their employees.

As noted, we are in the very early stages of exploring this option. If the County moves forward after receiving proposals and then selects a vendor, we will have much more information to share with employees, including the range of available services, locations, hours, fees, etc., on our BeWell Albemarle site. Keep an eye out for future updates via the Compass!
