The following 2019-20 teacher workdays will be flex days: November 4, January 21, March 3, and April 3 (half-day). These days are designated for teachers to work on report cards, plan for instruction, and complete other tasks related to their work. Volunteer Opportunity With the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank

Blue Ridge Area Food Bank

The Blue Ridge Area Food Bank is looking for volunteers! Each month, as part of their Commodity Supplemental Food Program (also called “Senior Food Boxes”), the Food Bank packs almost 3,000 boxes of wholesome food for delivery to low-income seniors who are at risk of and vulnerable to malnutrition.

Due to the large-scale nature of this project, the Food Bank needs 12-15 volunteers per shift, and they encourage groups. Continue reading

The MAPP Core Group (Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital, Thomas Jefferson Health District, UVA Department of Public Health Sciences, and UVA Health) presents the 2019 MAPP2Health Report. The report builds on the work of the 2016 MAPP (Mobilizing for Action through Planning and Partnerships) process and focuses on health equity across the district-wide priorities identified in earlier MAPP reports to promote healthy eating and active living, address mental health and substance use, reduce health disparities and improve access to care, and foster a healthy and connected community for all ages.

Past MAPP reports may be viewed on the Virginia Department of Health’s Thomas Jefferson Health District site.
