ACPS Recycles

To encourage increased participation in the ACPS recycling program, our Building Services team has placed blue recycling bins in every classroom across the division. We strongly encourage all students and staff to use the blue bins to recycle cardboard, paper, plastic bottles, and aluminum cans. Custodial staff will empty both recycling and trash bins.

Leave Your ActivPanel On!

Teachers: Did you know that your classroom’s Promethean ActivPanel is essentially a giant computer? Just like your laptop, an ActivPanel needs frequent updates to keep it running smoothly. While these updates are managed centrally by the Department of Technology, your panel needs to be on in order to receive these updates. Therefore, it is considered best practice to leave your ActivPanel on at the end of the day. This is especially important now, as your panel may have several updates to install since it was off over the summer. Once any updates have been received and installed, your panel will automatically enter standby mode. Continue reading

Calling all musicians! The Albemarle County Concert Band is open to people of all ability levels and performance experiences who are interested in playing in a concert band and making music together. We rehearse during the school year in the band room at Burley Middle School on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 8. Backpack Drive Underway; Collection Dates: Aug. 1-7

Back to School Bash 2022

The Back to School Bash Committee is soliciting donations of solid color backpacks for elementary students and brightly decorated backpacks for preschool students. Donated backpacks will be distributed to students from Charlottesville, Albemarle, and surrounding counties on August 20 at the Back to School Bash at Ting Pavilion in Downtown Charlottesville.

Backpacks can be dropped off from August 1-7 at either the Charlottesville City Schools Division Annex or Mt. Zion First African Baptist Church. For more information about donating or purchasing a backpack online for delivery to the committee, please see the event flyer: Continue reading

Volunteers Needed for Back to School Bash

Back to School Bash 2022

Each year, Charlottesville City Schools and Albemarle County Public Schools join forces with several community organizations to offer free school supplies and backpacks to families in need. This year’s Back to School Bash will be held on Saturday, August 20, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the Ting Pavilion in Downtown Charlottesville. In addition to free school supplies, the event will feature music, games, local vendors, and more!
